SANIBEL ISLAND: A SEASHELL PARADISE

Planning a family vacation, honeymoon, holiday getaway or in the process of relocating? If so, thank you for considering Sanibel Island as your destination!

Located west of Cape Coral, FL, Sanibel Island is joined to the mainland by a 3 mile toll bridge and causeway. Graced with clean, uncrowded beaches (and a relaxed small town atmosphere) half of Sanibel's area is protected by two wildlife reserves. The larger one, the 5000 acre J.N. "Ding" Darling National Wildlife Refuge runs along the majority of Sanibel's inner coastline, while the smaller, the Nature Center, is owned and operated by the Sanibel-Captiva Conservative Foundation. Both reserves offer naturalists and sightseers ample opportunities to view the egrets, gopher tortoises, otters, raccoons, herons, alligators and lizards that populate the island.

On the more commercial side, interesting shops, galleries and restaurants are to be found from the Sanibel Lighthouse to Terbon Bay, and, with over 200 types of shells, it is small wonder that Sanibel Island is also home to the Bailey-Matthews Shell Museum (the only museum in the United States devoted to shells in art and history, shell habitat, fossil shells and rare specimens). Cultural opportunities abound and kayaking, sailing and parasailing are popular outdoor activities.

Are you ready to share the Sanibel experience?
