Mazatlan
This city, located in a beautiful Pacific cove, is considered one of the most important tourist destinations in the world. Over 1 million visitors grace its gorgeous shores each year. And with a nickname like "The Pearl of the Pacific," it is no wonder. Being just south of the Tropic of Cancer, Mazatlan boasts much more hospitable temperatures than locations farther south, with average yearly temperature hovering in the mid-seventies. In fact, the climate is so hospitable that many North Americans choose to live there permanently in retirement. English is widely spoken.
There are over ten miles of beaches to relax on or to swim from. The surfing is excellent at certain times of the year as well. Downtown Mazatlan, known as Old Mazatlan, has excellent shopping and dining opportunities. And for those with a taste for history and knowledge, El Faro, the 3rd highest lighthouse in the world, and the National Aquarium await.
